The first Land Use Municipal Plan to be approved and adopted within Belize. The work incorporates a specific public consultation program that articulates citizen’s and stakeholder’s participation.
The plan defines a new legal land regime integrating the different vectors that influence the development: set of regulations, land use, infrastructures, environment, heritage, urban equipment, urban services.
It is set up in a way that allows for flexibility for its revision every two years allowing the regulatory framework and land use categories to remain for existing urban areas. It limits the expansion of the urban areas by defining the concept of the Rural Urban Limit Line (RUL).
